Exactly what I needed to get power into my home
My home has a 30A transfer switch with an exterior L14-30 120/240 volt connector, and I use this cable to connect to my portable generator. The 50 foot length gives me the flexibility of putting my generator in my driveway and is much more convenient than shorter units. The cable is well-made, very rugged and looks like it will last forever. You definitely need one of these to connect your generator to your home.
Good cable but not recommended to run at full 7500W
The cable has been working well with our Generac and carries a pretty large load by itself of two furnaces, a sub zero refrigerator, and several lights. However recently we had to add a few extra devices to it, some of which consume 1k plus in wattage. The cable heated up severely even though we were operating at well under the specified capacity of 7500W. The electrician then recommended that we get a separate cable to split the load between the two cables. We’ve done that and there’s been no heating issue since then.
This is a seriously heavy duty cord, and at 50 feet long it should meet all of my backup generator power needs. My only complaint is that on the packaging it states that the product contains lead, and that one needs to wash their hands after handling the product. I wish that was written in the product description, as it would have probably changed my mind about purchasing this product – I have little kids. However, it might be the case that all of these heavy duty generator cords contain lead to meet the durability and flexibility needs of the product, I just don’t know though so I’m keeping this cord and will use caution when handling the product.
Just what you expect
What is there to say about a 50′ cord, it has good connectors on the end, is well assembled, and worked the first time. Only time will tell if it holds up, but since this is for a backup generator that will be, hopefully, infrequent.
This is a super heavy extension cord. I have done some research and it is very important to use a heavy cord when running power from a generator. This cord is super high quality. BUT wear gloves when handling, as the paint has lead in it. There is a warning on the package…but I left a pair of gloves with the cord in case we forget, that will be a reminder.
Good quality very happy.
This was one of the less expensive cords I could find in stock. Feels and looks strong good quality item.
Works fine, cost was pretty good considering a 10′ cord goes for about $75. No issues recommending it to someone else ..
Bought many of them.
As a professional this is got it all value heavy duty jacket, bright yellow for safety and visibility, molded ends which makes it safer to handle. I have bought many generator cords but this one I like the best.
This is a quality cord, thick, and long….that’s what she said! You’ll love it and be satisfied….she said that too.
Perfect length for the job
This cable is perfect for what I need. If you havn’t shopped around your local stores for a long cable don’t waste your time. Although they carry a lot of generators they don’t have much in cables.
